A monthly study on people with peripheral artery disease observed that eating 30 grams of milled flaxseeds per day (over a period of a few days) has the ability to decrease levels of LDL (bad) cholesterol by 15%.
Flaxseeds contain fibre that binds with the bile salts before getting excreted from the body. In order to replenish these bile salts, cholesterol gets pulled from the blood and into the liver, which ultimately results in lower levels of cholesterol.
