Kiwi and protein digestion

There are only a few naturally occurring protease enzymes that break down proteins into different amino acids for absorption and one of them is present in Kiwis too. The active protease enzyme in kiwis is called actinidain. It is included in a variety of commercially available meat tenderizing products (to promote digestion).

It wouldn’t hurt to include Kiwis in your diet if your protein intake on a daily basis is high.
