Quite a lot of children and adults will develop an allergic reaction to wheat within seconds, minutes, or hours of eating it. Remember that some people are so allergic to such foods that simply touching or smelling wheat-based foods can trigger an allergic reaction.

The following is a list of possible reactions:

  • Throat swelling, itching, or irritation
  • Asthma flare-ups
  • Hives, itching, and eczema on the skin
  • Nasal congestion
  • Headaches
  • Breathing problems
  • Stomach cramps or pain in the bowels
  • Vomiting and diarrhoea
