The vegan diet is a diet in which only plant-based foods like vegetables, grains, nuts, and fruits and foods are included in the diet. Foods that come from animal sources including dairy products and eggs are completely avoided.

Research shows that vegan or vegetarian diets rich in plant-based foods are associated with lower LDL cholesterol, improved blood sugar levels, and improved blood pressure.

There are only a few nutrients that individuals following a vegan diet should be mindful of getting enough of, which are- vitamin B12, calcium, iron, and certain omega-3 fatty acids.
