A condition that occurs when too many lipids (fats) are present in the blood is known as high cholesterol. This condition is also known as hyperlipidemia or hypercholesterolemia.
To function, your body needs just the proper quantity of lipids. Your body can't use all the lipids you have if you have a lot of them. Your arteries begin to thicken as a result of the additional lipids. The extra lipids build plaque in your blood when they combine with other elements (fatty deposits).
For years, this plaque may not create any issues, but over time, it silently enlarges within your arteries. Without your knowledge, the excess lipids in your blood contribute to the plaque's growth. A blood test is the only way to determine if you have high cholesterol.
There are no specific symptoms that one is having high cholesterol levels.
You won’t be able to notice any symptoms until and unless your high cholesterol level causes other problems in your body.
If you have too much cholesterol in your blood, it can form plaque when it combines with other molecules in your blood.
