Makhanas have a high amount of fibre content, a low glycemic index, and a very low number of calories. They contain almost negligible fat, making them a top choice among those who are enthusiastic about weight loss.
100 gms of makhana contains around 347 calories, 9.7 gm of protein, 0.1 gm of fat, 76.9 gm of carbohydrates, 14.5 gm of fibre, 60 mg of calcium, and 1.4 mg of iron. There are way too many benefits of this understated yet wholesome superfood.
One of the primary advantages of makhana is that they are rich in essential nutrients such as calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus which are otherwise usually not found in regular diets. These nutrients directly support bone health and immunity.
Since they are also low in calories, makhanas are considered a healthy weight-loss snack too. One cup of makhana contains only 83 calories which are nothing compared to a plate of Pakodas (315 calories) and a packet of chips (536 calories).
