To begin making the knol khol masala, peel the knol khol (knol khol also known as kohlrabi) and chop them into bite-size pieces.

Blanch the tomatoes in boiling water for 5 minutes until the skin separates. cool completely and grind into a smooth paste.

In a kadai, heat olive oil over medium heat. add mustard seeds and let them splutter.

Add finely chopped onions and saute until they turn translucent, which will take about 3-4 minutes.

Add finely chopped ginger and garlic, and saute until the raw smell disappears.
