Prepare the pasta: cook the whole wheat pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. drain and set aside.

Blanch and peel tomatoes: score a shallow "x" on the bottom of each tomato. boil water and blanch the tomatoes for about 1 minute. transfer them to cold water and peel off the skin. chop the tomatoes roughly.

Saute aromatics: heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. add finely chopped garlic and onion. saute until they turn golden and aromatic.
