Place the fresh clams (vongole) in a strainer and submerge them in a large mixing bowl. rinse them under cold water for about 10 minutes to remove any sand.

Lift the clams out of the water and discard any sand that has settled at the bottom of the bowl.

Cook the spaghetti in boiling salted water until al dente. rinse the cooked spaghetti with cold water to cool it down.

Prepare two serving plates or bowls for plating.

Bring a pot of salted water to a boil for cooking the pasta.
