How To Cook?

Rinse the chana dal thoroughly in water and soak it in enough water for at least 2 hours. drain the water after soaking.

In a pressure cooker, add the soaked chana dal along with fresh water (about 2 cups). cook the dal until it becomes soft and tender. keep it aside.

In a large pan or kadai, heat the sunflower oil over medium heat.

Add the mustard seeds and cumin seeds. let them crackle.

Add the sliced green chillies, asafoetida, and turmeric powder to the pan. saute for a minute until the flavors release.
