How To Cook?

Wash and peel the potatoes. chop the potatoes into small 1/2-inch pieces.

Use a food chopper or blender to mince the onions. the puree should be coarse.

Gently break the urad dal wadiyan into small pieces by hitting them with a rolling pin or in a mortar and pestle.

In a nonstick frying pan, heat 1 tablespoon of oil. add the wadi pieces and saute them for 4 to 5 minutes or until they become brown. remove them from the pan and set them aside on a plate.

On high heat, add 2 tablespoons of oil to the same pan where the wadiyan were fried. add cumin seeds and asafoetida and fry for 2 minutes or until the cumin seeds become brown.
