How To Cook?

In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of rice flour, a pinch of salt, and 1 teaspoon of oil. mix well until the ingredients are evenly distributed.

Add 1/2 cup of water gradually to the mixture while continuously mixing. keep mixing until the dough comes together and there are no dry flour patches. the dough should be soft and non-sticky.

Grate 1/2 cup of coconut and mix it into the dough. incorporate the coconut evenly throughout the dough.

Shape the dough into cylinders, making it easier to fit into the idiyappam press. prepare the idiyappam press with the disc that has tiny holes. grease the mold with oil and fill it with the dough, filling it about 3/4th of the way.

Grease the idiyappam steamer with oil to create a thin layer on the surface. press the dough through the mold in thin layers, avoiding overcrowding. place the steamer pot or idli pot with boiling water, and arrange the idiyappam steamers on top of an idli plate.
