In a separate pan, dry roast the rice flour until it turns golden brown and emits a nutty aroma. remove it from heat and set it aside.

In the hot mustard oil, add cumin seeds and let them splutter.

Break the dried red chillies into pieces and add them to the oil along with a pinch of asafoetida.
